On August, 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., the Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana witnessed the joyful celebration of three of its friars as they made their perpetual profession of vows. The newly professed are Friars Samuel Awechena TANKIA, Martin Mensah BOAMAH, and Isaac Adobasom MANU. The celebration took place at the at the Sacred Heart Parish Church in the Penkwase neighborhood of Sunyani, Ghana.
Those attending included the Provincial Custos, Friar Vitus Edem Yao MENSAH, who received the friars’ vows; the Pastor of the Sacred Heart Parish, Friar Stephen Oscar AMO; friars from the various friaries; priests; men and women religious; family; friends; parishioners and people of goodwill. Some friars were unable to attend due to ill health and other exigencies. Nevertheless, the majority of the friars attended. The Provincial Custos, Friar Vitus Edem Yao MENSAH, presided over Mass. In his homily, he advised the newly-professed, and everyone present to respond to the call of God with all their heart. He urged them to be ready to inconvenience themselves for the sake of the Gospel. He exhorted them to emulate our founder St. Francis by living the Gospel life. He encouraged them to follow the good example of role models who have lived this life in all sincerity and have become beacons of hope to the Order and the Church at large. The parish gave each of the newly professed friars a bouquet of flowers and a token envelope for saying their final “yes” to the Lord. We thank God for the lives of these confreres and we are grateful to the Sacred Heart Parish for its generous donation on this occasion. We thank all those who made this beautiful and colorful celebration possible.
